University Arms Hotel
Regent Street
Cambridge
Cambridgeshire, CB2 1ADUniversity Arms, Cambridge, opened in August 2018 following a two-year refurbishment led by renowned architect, John Simpson, and Swedish interior designer, Martin Brudnizki. The reimagined hotel now takes its influences from Cambridge’s intellectual and literary icons, as well as its diverse history. The result is a hotel with a distinctly individual personality that belies world-class service.
Situated on historic Regent Street, many of the rooms have leafy views across Parker’s Piece, the city’s green heart. The hotel is a four-minute walk from the city centre, and just ten minutes from the Church of St Mary the Great and the Fitzwilliam Museum. Many Cambridge University colleges are also within walking distance, and the iconic Backs — where guests can enjoy a classic Cambridge pastime, punting — just thirteen minutes away.
University Arms offers 192 en suite bedrooms and suites, each furnished with stylish Edwardian-style details. Four room categories are available — Cosy, Classic, Superior and Suites — with every room featuring superfast Wi-Fi, a smart television, soft-as-silk cotton sheets, air-conditioning and heated bathroom floors. Every guest has access to room service, a complimentary mini bar, 24-hour gym and hotel bicycles to explore the city. Many of University Arms’ signature Suites have balconies overlooking Parker’s Piece, from which guests may catch an amateur cricket match taking place on a balmy summer evening, or read a tome from their Suite’s private bookshelf.
Three meeting rooms are available for business travellers: the Newton Room, the Crick Room, and the Watson Room, while the hotel’s signature Ballroom holds up to 200 guests for larger parties, weddings and special events. Breakfast is served in the Library, a thoughtful dining space which evokes the spirit of a classic college library — bookshelves have been curated by Heywood Hill of Mayfair to showcase a swathe of Cambridge authors, past and present.
Parker's Tavern, the hotel’s destination restaurant, presided over by head chef Tristan Welch, serves a seasonal British menu sourced from an array of Cambridgeshire producers, as well as a diverse cocktail menu, an extensive wine cellar, and a renowned afternoon tea experience.
